Next Theology On Tap, Tuesday September 11th

Anthony Buhl will present his talk entitled, "Four Inescapable Questions of Life" at the next Theology On Tap.

The great debate (some might say the "great personal struggle”) that is now taking place in Western culture is really about answering a few foundational questions about what we believe life to be, its origin, its nature, its moral structure, and its final purpose. As St. Augustine noted, the inescapable choice is either to accept God, or to deny Him; to either live in the City of God or opt for the City of Man. Not to choose, is to choose. Which ever choice one makes requires a very different, and logically consistent set of answers to the four questions, all of which result in a very different kind of life for the chooser.

This is sure to be an interesting and fruitful talk. The next Theology On Tap is Tuesday September 11th at Granite City Food & Brewery beginning at 7pm. Remember to bring an appetite for food fellowship! See you there!

Next Theology On Tap, Tuesday August 14th

This months topic of Canon Law will be presented by Fr. Aaron Kuhn. Canon law is the theology of the Church put into practice, i.e., how to run a diocese or how to run a parish. It covers the basic requirements of being a Catholic, as well as the extensive details of marriage law and annulments, and much, much more. This is sure to be an important and educational Theology On Tap.

Once again we are meeting at Granite City Food & Brewery starting at 7pm! We hope to see you all there. Remember to bring an appetite for food & fellowship. Bring a friend along with you too. Until then, take care & God bless.

Litany of Saints

Long before trick-or-treating and costume parties began, the Church has been celebrating the lives of those men and women who have gone before us on the feasts of All Souls and All Saints. We in the St. Cloud area are fortunate enough to have a standing invitation to participate in the Abbey's celebration of All Souls/All Saints days (and any other occasion for Mass or the Liturgy of the Hours).
Even if you do have plans for trick-or-treating or a costume party on All Hallow's Eve, take advantage of this beautiful (and local) vigil prayer that the Benedictine monks at St. John's Abbey invite the community to join in each year. Whether you are remembering a particular death in your cirlce of family or friends this year, or are just curious about the over-shadowed Catholic tradition, it is a beautiful practice and one worth participating in.
The Vigil begins at 7pm on Saturday October 31, 2009 at the Abbey Church. Enjoy!
